Everyone has questions about how quickly they can return to normal activities after your breast lift. While not everyone is the same, these are some general guidelines as it relates to your breast lift. Dr. Luria will provide you with specific instructions which you should follow closely to expedite your recovery process.
Returning to Work
You should be able to return to work after a week, depending on the level of physical activity. You are advised not to do any heavy lifting bending, or straining.
Swelling
You will be swollen and bruised for about three to five weeks following surgery. You should be able to see the complete results of lift after this time.
Showering
You are allowed to shower the day after your surgery, you must put your support bra back on immediately. Make sure that all incisions are completely dry.
Recovery
You will return home after your breast lift. You can be up and about 24 to 48 hours after your surgery. Your breasts will be bandaged for a few days. When the bandages are removed Dr. Luria will advise you to wear a surgical bra for the next couple weeks, and your stitches will slowly be removed over a period of 3 weeks. You may resume light exercise after only a few weeks.
Discomfort
Your breasts will be sore for about two to three weeks after surgery. You may lose sensation in your nipples; this should be temporary but could last for weeks, months or even a year.Dr. Luria will also give you medication to help with the discomfort. Your breasts should feel back to normal at about 3 to 4 weeks following surgery.
Results
A breast lift will give you higher firmer breasts. Your scars, although permanent should fade significantly over time, this varies for every patient. The new shape and lift of your breasts should last for along time. The gain or loss of weight and the effects of gravity will alter the shape of your breasts. After a period of years you may become dissatisfied with your results and may wish to undergo another breast lift.
