Everyone has questions about how quickly they can return to normal activities. While not everyone is the same, these are some general guidelines as it relates to your cheek and chin implant surgery. Dr. Luria will give you specific instructions to expedite your recovery process. Make sure to follow these guidelines closely.
Returning to Work/Activity after Chin and Cheek Implant Surgery
With facial implant surgery, you may look and feel better in a short period of time. However, Dr. Luria may advise you not to participate in activities that may result in the face being jarred or bumped for some time period. Make sure to follow his restrictions as they will help in the healing process.
Swelling after Chin and Cheek Implant Surgery
Immediately following surgery, you will experience a lot of swelling. Your swelling usually peaks twenty four to forty eight hours afterward. Although most swelling will subside over a period of several days, prolonged mild swelling may prevent your final facial contour from becoming apparent for several months. Dr. Luria will discuss this with during your visits after your implant surgery.
Recovery
Dr. Luria does most of the chin and cheek implant surgeries on an outpatient basis. You will return home shortly after your chin implant surgery. You can be up and about within the first 24 hours after your surgery. Make sure to follow Dr. Luria’s post operative instructions closely as this will help in the recovery process.
Discomfort
Your may experience some discomfort immediately following your surgery. Dr. Luria can also give you pain medication to help with the discomfort if needed.
Results
The time needed to see the results from facial implant surgery vary for everyone. You may not see the final results until a couple of months after surgery. The results should be permanent unless you injure your face. Dr. Luria will discuss this with during your visits after your implant surgery.
