Returning to Work/School
Dr. Luria lets most adults go back to work about five days after their ear surgery. Children can go back to school after about seven days, if they're careful about playground activity. Any physical activity in which the ear might be hit bent should be avoided for a month or so.
Recovery
You should be up and around within a few hours of surgery, although you may prefer an overnight stay in the hospital with a child until all the effects of general anesthesia wear off. Your head will be wrapped in a bulky bandage following ear surgery to help with the recovery process and produce the best results.
Discomfort
Your ears may throb or ache a little for a couple of days following the surgery, but Dr. Luria can provide a pain medication if needed.
Results
Your results from the otoplasty should be permanent as long as you do not cause any harm or injury to yourself. Proper healing of your ears will take some time so it is very important to follow instructions that Dr. Luria has given you carefully so that you will achieve the results you desire.
